Thermal Arc was established by Thermadyne in 1991 with just three 300 amps portable inverter power supplies. By the time of its demise in 2014 Thermal arc had grown to a power house with products ranging from the home Hobbyist to Automation covering STICK, TIG, MIG, MIG Pulse and Plasma Welding.
When ITW purchased Hobart in 1995 they absorbed all Hobart Filler Metals and welding equipment from 200 Amps or less under the Miller Brand. Arcsys Welding was established with the remaining Hobart products over 200 amps.
Thermadyne (Victor Technologies) purchased Arcsys and was absorbed into the Thermal Arc brand in 1997.
Thermadyne Group which change its name to Victor Technologies was purchased by Colfax and absorbed under the ESAB Brand in 2014. The majority of the Thermal Arc products were discontinued.
Victor Technology Brands included Victor, Tweco, Thermal Dynamics, Stoody, Firepower, Thermal Arc, ArcAir, Cigweld.

Thermal Arc closed Troy Ohio around 2002 and moved manufacturing of above products to Thermadyne Plant in Malaysia.
